In Early 2005, a displaced group of Believers began seeking God’s will concerning His direction for them.  After much prayer, the group agreed that they should continue their fellowship together.  After much prayer, it was felt that God was directing them to start a fresh, new local fellowship in the Elgin Crossroads community.

The name CrossRoads Baptist Church, because of where they found themselves in their spiritual walk and the physical meeting area, became the obvious name choice for the new church fellowship.  The desire was and is to be recognized as a church that embraces freedom of worship bound only by God’s word and not by tradition.

The new fellowship was drawn to a vacant storefront building, which formerly housed a dollar store, located on Highway 101 approximately 1,000 feet north of the Highway 72.  The building boasted 10,000 square feet and approximately 56 parking spaces.  The space was rented and they took possession on March 18, 2005.  Getting it ready for use as a worship center began on Saturday, March 19, 2005.  A small group of about 8 people met there at about 7:00 am with prayer.  Before the work ended that day, over 40 people had joined in the work.  The original goal was to be ready for worship by Easter Sunday March 27th.

The first official worship service in the storefront was on April 03, 2005 with 182 in attendance.  It was a feeling of amazement of what God was putting in motion.  Since then, God’s blessings have been manifested in many ways. In June of 2005, land was purchased for a permanent location on Highway 72, ½ mile east of the Highway 101 intersection.  The first and current pastor, David O. Cofield, was called in July 2005.  An official groundbreaking service was held on March 2nd, 2008, for the construction of a multi-purpose facility to be completed in the fall of 2008.
